Apni party provincial president Jammu Namrta Sharma writes to LT governor regarding current covid situation
Vicious cycle of death needs to end ,Urges LT Governor to take concreate measures to save precious lives
Jammu , May 09 (KB): Jammu and Kashmir Apni party provincial president women’s wing Jammu sent An Open Letter to Lt. Governor of J&K regarding current Covid-19 Crisis
In a letter to LT Governor Namrta Sharma has said according to letter which lies with KB — Kashmir Bulletin that ,Respected Sir : I, Namrta Sharma Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party Provincial President Women Wing Jammu, hereby through the medium of this open letter would like to convey my serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of the health care system in Jammu as the second wave has entirely wreaked havoc across the country.
However, the impervious and uncaring attitude that is being adapted by the J&K administration is making the Covid-19 patients to suffer profoundly as they are being buffeted from pillar to post.
Our health care system has utterly failed to deliver services to the public in this time of pandemic. The lackadaisical approach of the government has worsened the situation in Jammu wherein fatality rates are on the record high. Even the medical staff has been reported to keep patients lingering who are in need of beds and oxygen. For hours, in the medical ambulances, the patients are being kept in wait outside the hospital premises.
I have had a chance to meet your excellency twice, before the onset of this second wave, wherein I along with my party affiliates had pointed out towards the scarcity of the beds in GMC Jammu. I had been assured for an appropriate action towards it but until now nothing concrete has happened on ground. Regrettably the situation has further worsened.
The Jammu division is grappling with the grave shortage of live saving drugs like Remdesivir, Oxygen concentrators and Vaccine darts that are direly needed to counter the spread of this dreaded contagion.
Unless the administration acts promptly and in an assiduous manner, I fear that the people will have to witness more gloom and despair in the coming days. The moral responsibility of such catastrophic condition will be on the shoulders of current administration who are at the helm of public affairs.
I once again humbly appeal for your timely intervention into this matter of grave concern in order to devise a comprehensive strategy to contain the spread of Covid-19 second wave besides putting a halt over the mounting deaths in Jammu.
The vicious cycle of death needs to end. It’s imperative that the concerned authorities take cognizance of the situation and relieve people from the sufferings of shortage of medical supplies, beds and oxygen in the government hospitals and health centres.
I firmly hope that if your government promptly takes apposite steps in order to tackle this medical emergency, much of the worse situation can still be averted.
I would also like to suggest that in view of the accommodation scarce in the hospitals, the doors of religious buildings and parking places need to be opened up and converted into temporary medical lodging for the ailing Covid-19 patients.
Furthermore, I would request people to strictly maintain all the Standard Operating Measures and get inoculated as soon as possible which is also subject to the availability of vaccine shots, Letter states.
I hope that all my suggestions will be given a due consideration and the requisite measures shall be taken without any delay, letter Reads (KB — Kashmir Bulletin)
