Kupwara Aug 5 (KB): Police on Friday said they have arrested five drug peddlers, and have recovered narcotics in three different cases from Kupwara, officials said.
Police spokesperson as per Kashmir Bulletin–(KB), said that while tightening its noose around the drug peddlers, Kupwara Police has arrested five more drug peddlers in three different cases during the last twenty four hours in the district.
“In its first case , Police party of Police Station Kupwara during a naka duty at Batergam on 4th of August, apprehended one person namely Amir Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Maqbool Bhat resident of Batergam along with contraband brown sugar like substance. The peddler was on way to sell narcotics among vulnerable youth in and around Kupwara town,” it reads.
“In another case of similar nature, on 4th of August, police party of Police Post Bazar headed by its Incharge SI Sameer Ahmed apprehended two notorious drug peddlers namely Firdous Ahmed Sheikh son of Mohd Yousaf Sheikh resident of Waterkhani Drugmulla and Mudasir Ahmed Wani son of Ghulam Mohd Wani resident of Darzipora Kupwara in Kupwara market along with contraband brown sugar like substance. Both these peddlers have been doing the peddling clandestinely for quite sometime and were on police radar since then,” it reads.
“In the third case of arrest of two more drug peddlers, a joint team of Kupwara Police and 41 RR on 4th August 2022, apprehended two persons namely Zahoor Ahmed Malik son of Abdul Aziz Malik and Javid Ahmed Malik son of Abdul Jabar Malik both residents of Lashtyal Kalaroos at Ghoose naka along with charas like substance. The duo was heading towards Kupwara town to sell narcotics to earn quick money,” it reads.
“In all the apprehensions, Police Station Kupwara has registered three different cases vide FIRs number 196/2022, 197/2022 and 198/2022 under relevant provisions of NDPS Act And taken investigation to unearth the whole nexus involved in these three cases of drug peddling.” (Kashmir Bulletin–KB)
