A girl from the frontier town of Kupwara backed by Indian Army has brought laurels to the country by winning a gold medal at International Tae kwon do Championship held at national Capital
Kupwara Terriers, today, felicitated Miss Rabia Rasool, a 17 year old young girl from Kupwara on winning GOLD at the International Taekwondo championship held at New Delhi on 27-28 Nov 21. According to reports the event saw more than 400 players from different countries to include Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri lanka, Thailand and Uzbekistan competing in International Taekwondo Championship 2021.
Col Swaraj Bhattacharya, Commanding Officer, Kupwara Terriers congratulated Ms Rabia Rasool for her exceptional performance at the international stage and assured her continued support for her training, development and participation in more such competitions. Kupwara terriers enabled her participation in the International event by overcoming her financial handicap & baring her travel expenses to the National Capital.
The officer spoke at length about her experiences, challenges, and reiterated the importance of sports in character building. He said, this unbeaten performance by Ms Rabia Rasool will serve as a motivation to other girls to pursue sports and in turn reinforce women empowerment in J&K. Kupwara Terriers remains in the forefront to encourage sports in Kupwara enabling the youth to showcase their talent and make a mark in the world of sports.
