Sumbal, Aug 18: The residents of Nowgam area in North kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday urged J&K Bank authorities to facilitate setting-up of a bank branch and an ATM in their respective area.
The locals while complaining about the issue told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that their area consists of twenty thousand people without a bank branch due to which they had to face difficulties all the time.
They said that they have to go about eight kilometers away to Sambal Bank for minor even work at banks. “We are forced to go to the main town sumbal to withdraw money from banks or ATMs,” Bashir Ahmad, a local said.
The traders of the area said that they are facing a lot of difficulties without having a bank and an ATM here. “Sometimes our business is affected when we have to go to the bank which is far from here,” Abdul Aziz, a local said.
He said that their demand for a new bank branch and ATM have been turned down by bank officials on several occasions.
Locals demanded that the authorities should establish a bank branch and an ATM in the area, so that they can avail the benefit of the facility—(KNO)
