Police Arrest Online Fraudster Accused of Cheating Government Teacher of Doda

Srinagar, Dec 5 (KS): Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested an online fraudster accused of cheating a government teacher hailing from Doda.

In a statement issued to the news agency Kashmir Scroll, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Doda said it arrested one online fraudster from Ajmer Rajasthan who was wanted in case FIR No. 237/2023 registered against him at Police Station Doda for online cheating an amount of Rs, 11,67,220/- from a Govt. Teacher of Kastigarh Doda.

Giving details, the Police said that on 29.10.2023, one Showket Ali who is a Govt. teacher and resident of Bibrota tehsil Kastigarh lodged a written complaint at Police Station Doda mentioning therein that he came in contact with one Shahrukh Noor Mohd son of Noor Mohd resident of Jhunjhun Rajasthan through Facebook who cheated the complainant and looted online an amount Rs, 11,67,220/- from him.

“In this connection case FIR No. FIR No. 237/2023 under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Doda. During the investigation, the Police activated the sources to apprehend the online fraudster and based on human/technical lead, a Police party led by SI Mohd Shafi under the supervision of Jaswant Singh, Dy.SP Hqrs Doda was deputed to Ajmer and the Police party arrested the fraudster from Ajmer Rajasthan. Further investigation of the case is going on.”

“Doda Police has been organizing several awareness programmes on online cheating fraud to give awareness to the general public so that a common man may not fall into the net of fraudsters, and cheaters. Police appeal to the general public to be aware of fraudsters, and online cheaters and don’t respond to unknown callers or don’t share their details, OTP to unknown persons if they came in contact with any unknown caller etc”, the statement reads further.
