Police arrests 3 LeT/TRF Militant associates in Baramulla

Baramulla, November 26, 2023: In a significant joint operation, the police, along with security forces, apprehended three individuals associated with the proscribed terror outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF) in Baramulla. The operation, conducted during joint Naka checking and patrolling with 13 SIKHLI, 185 BN BSF, and Baramulla Police, resulted in the discovery of arms, ammunition, and other incriminating materials in the possession of the arrested individuals.

On November 25, 2023, at Kalgai near Jhula foot Bridge, two suspected persons, identified as Zameer Ahmad Khanday and Mohammad Naseem Khanday, both residents of Madiyan Kamalkote, were intercepted while coming from Kamalkote towards NHW carrying bags. A search of their belongings revealed three Chinese grenades and cash amounting to 2.5 lakhs. A FIR under relevant sections of the law was registered in Police Station Uri in response to this discovery.

Further investigations unfolded a network of illegal activities, as the arrested individuals disclosed that the grenades and cash were supplied to them by Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti, a resident of Madiyan Kamalkote. The purpose behind this supply was to facilitate the execution of potential terrorist acts. Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti, upon being questioned, revealed the location of an additional Chinese hand grenade and cash amounting to 2.17 lakhs, which were promptly recovered.
