Rajouri/Kupwara, Aug 29 (KB): Security forces have undertaken two operations in Jammu and Kashmir that involved an exchange of fire with suspected terrorist.
“On August 28, an army-police joint operation was conducted in the late night hours in the Kheri Mohra Lathi and Danthal areas of Budhal in Rajouri. The operation that began around 9:30 PM led to contact with militants near Kheri Mohra at about 11:45 PM. A gunfire exchange took place between security forces and terrorist, while tension still prevailed as more details were awaited,” officials told the news agency—Kashmir Bulletin (KB).
Meanwhile, they added an operation against infiltration was carried out by the Indian Army along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, after receiving information about infiltration attempts in the Tangdhar area of Kupwara. This operation was initiated at the intervening night of August 28-29, which has been codenamed.
“Op Phillora.” Initial reports suggest the killing of possibly one militant; however, this operation is ongoing. Security for both regions has increased as authorities work to prevent further incidents.
