Srinagar, 25 Jan (KB): Iman Showkat Beigh (19), D/O Showkat Ahmed Beigh resident of Lal Bazar Srinagar. She has recently completed her 12th class examination and now preparing for entrance at Cluster University Srinagar.

Ms. Showkat while talking to Kashmir Bulletin–(KB), said that i am a calligrapher and a painter too. Painting helps me to reduc all my frustration, anger and gives me pleasure. I have  started calligraphy recently and i am doing good at it.

From childhood I was into painting, I liked drawing and never missed my art class. Then day by day it became my passion, my family also encouraged my at every point especially my father. It is within me, in my genes. My family is into Kashmiri Handicraft and we also work on shawls.

“I have taken painting seriously from this year, otherwise i used to do painting just for fun . But, now i am serious about my art and want to explore my art further,”she said.

“I have also started my page on Instagram with name “AIMANSARTISTRY”, then there I met many friends who supported me and encouraged me, it gave me confidence to paint more and post it. Nowadays i am also planning for my website and working on it and it will be soon available. Besides calligraphy I am also an athlete and I am preparing for national championship in SQAG Martial Arts,” she said.

“I don’t have any role model but one of my friend, whom I met on social media platform, is Kashmir’s first sand artist and he inspires  me to paint like crazy. He is kinda my inspiration, I like experimenting my art like I paint on different items as you will see on my Instagram, I had painted on different surfaces,” she said

Recently i started wall painting with one of my friend, Sahil Manzoor. Currently i am not perfect at my art but i am learning it and I believe art is all about imperfections. (Kashmir Bulletin–KB)
