Suspected explosive found on Jammu ring road; traffic halted
Jammu, Oct 05 (KB): A suspected explosive device, believed to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), was discovered on Jammu Ring Road in the Gharota area of Akhnoor, prompting authorities to halt traffic in the vicinity, officials said.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir Bulletin (KB), the Jammu and Kashmir Police traced the device, which weighs approximately 1.7 kg and is suspected to have been kept for a potential terror strike.
He said, as per initial reports, the IED is believed to be a timer IED placed in a container.
Meanwhile, the Bomb Disposal Squad was immediately called in to handle the situation.
Also, officials have cordoned off the area, ensuring no harm comes to the public while they work to safely neutralize the threat, and more details are awaited.—(KB)
