Two absconders arrested in Awantipora: Police

Srinagar, Dec 12 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Police in Awantipora on Tuesday said to have arrested two absconders who were evading their arrest for the last 14 years.

“Awantipora Police received non-bailable warrants under section 512 CrPC issued by the Hon’ble Court of JMIC Pampore on 23/11/2009 against two absconders namely Balvinder Kumar Bhagat son of Milki Ram Bhagat resident of Chalyari Samba, involved in case FIR No. 186/1996 under section 279, 304-A RPC of Police Station Awantipora and Jagjeet Singh son of Awtar Singh resident of Simbal Camp Jammu, involved in case FIR No. 24/1998 U/S 279, 304-A RPC of Police Station Awantipora,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

Accordingly, police said that a special team under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali was constituted and the said accused persons were arrested from District Jammu. Subsequently, the arrested accused were produced before the Court of Law, the statement said.

Moreover, one more warrant against Davinder Singh son of Hari Singh resident of Dingyana Jammu, involved in case FIR No. 63/1998 under section 279, 304-A RPC of Police Station Awantipora was disposed off due to death of accused and on production of death certificate by Police Station Awantipora, police added.

It is pertinent to mention here that during the current year Police in Awantipora have arrested four absconders involved in different criminal cases who were evading their arrests, police said—(KNO)
