Uri residents protest against conditions of roads in their locality, alleged R&B department for delaying repairing work from 6 years
Baramulla, Dec 08:- The residents of Katha Panjal village of Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday staged a strong protest against authorities blocking Baramulla-Uri highway road for half an hour in view of their demands.
Local resident Abdul Quyoom while speaking reporters said that the R & B department had started repairing work on Katha panjal- Rajwani road in 2017 after completing half km the road had been left incomplete and had not been done.
The protesters, including womens were carrying banners in their hands that said that the villagers want better roads and safety for their villagers.
“The three and a half km road was constructed by NHPC earlier after that handed over to R&B for repairing after several follow ups for locals the authorities turns blind eye towards us,” another resident Abdulllah said.
He also said that the villagers lack basic facilities also including tap water facility and cellular connectivity which makes their lives more miserable.
The protesters demand early repairing of their road so that their sufferings will be eased.
Meanwhile after intervention and assurance from the officials the protest had been called off.
