Web-portal Alleged of Circulating Fake News Busted in North Kashmir District, 2 Arrested

 

Srinagar: CIK wing of Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have busted an unregistered news portal by the name “Daily News & Analysis” which had Pakistan flag as its logo and the portal was involved in circulating fake news.

Local news agency KNS quoted an official as saying that CIK during social media monitoring identified the unregistered news portal, which was involved in circulating fake and fabricated news to disturb peace and tranquility.

“On further analysis, the admins of the group were identified as Zahoor Ahmad Khan son of Mohd Yaseen Khan and Abdul Rouf Peer son of Mohd Qasim Peer–both residents of Kupwara,” he said.

He said that the duo was arrested and during preliminary questioning they were found to be part of a module intending to spread rumours to further the agenda of adversary.

“They have been booked under relevant sections of law. Further analysis of digital devices and investigation has set into motion,” the official said.
