40 Quintals of Misbranded Fertilizers Seized in Shopian

Shopian, Feb 22 (KB): Authorities in South Kashmir’s Shopian district seized 40 quintals of misbranded vermicompost fertilizers in the Sofannaman area on Saturday.
Chief Agriculture Officer Farooq Ahmad, while speaking to the media, as per Kashmir Bulletin stated that samples of these brands had been collected earlier, and upon confirmation of misbranding, enforcement teams swiftly acted to seize the stock.
“We have already constituted teams at the tehsil and block levels to inspect all establishments. Checking squads are actively working to detect any misbranded products,“ he said.
He further emphasized that enforcement teams are closely monitoring the sale of fertilizers, allowing shopkeepers to sell them only after thorough verification.
The Agriculture Department, in collaboration with officials from the Tehsil Office and Law Enforcement Agency, conducted a raid at a location where nearly 40 quintals of misbranded vermicompost fertilizers were seized.
Authorities have assured strict action against those involved in the sale of substandard agricultural products to protect farmers’ interests.(KB)
