GPSC Recruitment 2023: Director General of Police, Panaji, Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) is inviting applications from eligible candidates /retired experts to fill the various posts including Scientific Officer (DNA), Scientific Assistant (DNA), and Laboratory Technician. The selected candidate will be appointed purely on a contractual basis for a period of one year or till posts are filled on a regular basis whichever is earlier in the Goa Forensic Science Laboratory. As per GPSC Recruitment 2023, there are 03 vacancies for these posts, one for each.

1. Scientific Officer (DNA) – 01

Eligibility Criteria for GPSC Recruitment 2023:
1. For Scientific Officer (DNA)
Essential:
i) The candidate should hold a Master’s degree in Science with at least a Second Class in Zoology/Microbiology Genetics/Biotechnology/Forensic Science with Zoology as one of the subjects at the Bachelor of Science level from a University recognized by UGC.
ii) The candidate should possess at least 05 years of practical experience in DNA fingerprinting with at least 02 years of experience in reporting cases iii fingerprinting in any State/Central Forensic Science Laboratory.
3) He/She should have knowledge of Microsoft office.
Desirable:
(i) The candidate should hold a Doctorate degree in the concerned discipline from a University recognized by UGC.
2. For Scientific Assistant (DNA):
1) The candidate should hold a Master’s degree in Science. with at least Second Class in Microbiology/ Genetics/ Zoology /Biotechnology/ Forensic Science with Zoology as one of the subjects at the Bachelor of Science level from a University recognized by UGC.
2) He/She should possess at least 03 years of research/analytical experience in DNA fingerprinting in any State/Central Forensic Science Laboratory,
3) He/She should hold a knowledge of Microsoft Office
Desirable:
The candidate should hold a Doctorate degree in the concerned discipline from a recognized University or equivalent.
3. For Laboratory Technician
Essential:
(1) The candidate should hold a Bachelor of Science with at least Second Class from a university recognized by UGC.
(2) He/She should hold a minimum of 02 years of practical experience in any Central/State Forensic Science laboratory.
(3) He/she should hold a knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Salary for GPSC Recruitment 2023:
1. For Scientific Officer (DNA)
The candidate selected for the given post shall be paid a monthly salary of Rs. 52400
2. For Scientific Assistant (DNA)
The selected candidate will be paid a monthly remuneration of Rs. 33600 for the given post.
3. For Laboratory Technician
The candidate selected for the given post will be paid Rs. 23700 per month.
Duties to be Performed for GPSC Recruitment 2023:
For Scientific Officer (DNA) – Examining and reporting of forensic DNA /Biology /Serology cases, Deposing in Courts as Expert witness., Visiting crime scenes (24×7) and any work is given by superiors.
For Scientific Assistant (DNA} Assisting Scientific Officer (DNA) in the examination of forensic cases, visiting crime scenes (24 x 7), and any work given by superiors.
For Laboratory Technician – Laboratory work, visiting crime scenes (24×7), and any work given by superiors.
Tenure for GPSC Recruitment 2023:
The tenure of the contract shall be for a period of one year only. The contract shall terminate automatically on completion of one year unless terminated earlier.

The candidate should send the generated hard copy of the application form filled in with the necessary details and affixed with his/her recent self – attested passport size photograph on the space provided and duly signed at the bottom of the application form shall be submitted by hand delivery/through postal delivery in the form 16/02/2023 to 02/03/2023 between 10.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. on all working days.
