Srinagar, Aug 08 (KB): In what has come as a significant development in political circles, Suhail Rather, the Congress District Coordinator for Shopian, has resigned from his position and left the Indian National Congress.
He said in his resignation statement that he decided to leave the party only after much thought had been given to this decision. Rather expressed an understanding of the challenges and rewards that marked his time with the Indian National Congress, and how greatly this role impacted him.
He continued, “After much thought, I have decided that in every respect, the best thing I can do is bid goodbye to my present position and resign from the party. This is a hard decision to make since my journey with the Indian National Congress party has been full of struggles and achievements.”
His was a term marked by a commitment to resolving local issues and an appreciation of the ways of political life in Shopian. His leaving, therefore, could easily be seen as an important moment in his personal life, as well as in the party itself—it has to work out the replacements as well as the likely consequences of Rather’s leaving in the end.
He further reflected on the experiences gained and appreciation for the encouragement and opportunities presented to him. “I am grateful for the support and opportunities granted to me during my tenure. I have had the privilege and good fortune to work with many talented and passionate team members and I will always treasure the experiences and relationships that I have developed within the party,” he said.
As Suhail Rather moves on to explore new horizons of opportunity, it leaves a huge gap in local politics. He will be long remembered as time changes into another era, with interests in the new arenas open for experience and insights.— (KB)
