CUK’s All India Inter-University Winter Games Begin
Gulmarg– Minister of Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma declared the All India Inter-University Winter Games 2024-25 open here on Thursday.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Central University Kashmir (CUK) Vice-Chancellor Prof. A Ravinder Nath, Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Joint Secretary of the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon, MLA Gulmarg Farooq Ahmad Shah, Dean Academic Affairs Prof Shahid Rasool, Deans of Schools, Heads of Departments and faculty members of the CUK.
Around 200 sports persons and officials from 27 Indian universities are participating in the two-day event comprising Skiing and Ice-stock competitions. The event is organised by the Central University Kashmir in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities.
Addressing the participants, Satish Sharma, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said, “It is an honor to be part of this prestigious event that celebrates the spirit of sportsmanship and the rich winter sports culture of India.”
Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, Vice Chancellor, said “We are thrilled to host the All India Inter-University Winter Games 2024-25. This event not only highlights the athletic prowess of our students but also showcases the natural beauty and potential of Gulmarg as a winter sports destination.”
