Handwara, Aug 21 (KB): The Cyber Unit Handwara has achieved significant success in its ongoing efforts to combat financial fraud, freezing /recovered ₹1,27000 in two separate online scam cases.
In a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir Bulletin reads, In both cases, the victims were lured by web links, promising hefty returns. The scam involved convincing the victims to invest money with the promise of high returns.
Initially, small tasks with quick returns were provided to bait the victims. Gradually, they were asked to invest in larger amounts, which led to significant financial losses, it reads.
The Cyber Unit Handwara promptly analysed and recovered ₹1,1000 and ₹1,16000 has been freezed, it reads.
J&K Police again warned citizens to be vigilant against such scams. No legitimate investment scheme offers quick and substantial returns.
The public is advised to avoid falling for such fraudulent schemes and to invest wisely, reads the statement.(KB)
