Srinagar, September 14 (KB): Two militants were killed in an gunfight, which broke out between militants and security forces, at Nowgam area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Wednesday late evening.
Taking to Microblogging Site Twitter, Kashmir police Tweet inform that, two local AUGH militants have been killed in a encounter which broke out at Nowgam Srinagar, and both the killed militants have also been identified.
Meanwhile police spokesperson in a statement as per Kashmir Bulletin–(KB), said that while acting on specific information generated by Police regarding the presence of militants in Dangerpora area of Nowgam in district Srinagar, a joint cordon & search operation was launched by Police and Army (50RR) in the said area.
“During the search operation, as the joint search party approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter,” he said.
“In the ensuing encounter, 02 militants were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. As per police they have been identified as Aijaz Rasool Najar of Pulwama and Shahid Ahmad @Abu Hamza,” said the spokesperson.
Further, “as per police records, both the killed militants were categorized militants and were linked with proscribed outfit of AGuH. Both the killed militants were involved in several crime cases including attacks on Police/security forces and civilian atrocities. Besides, they were also involved in recent attack on an outside labourer namely Muneer ul Islam of West Bengal on 02/09/2022 at Ugergund Newa area of Pulwama,” he said.
“Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 01 AK series rifle, 02 Pistols and 01 Grenade were recovered from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation.”
“In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated. People are requested to cooperate with Police till the area at encounter site is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials, if any,” said the spokesperson. (Kashmir Bulletin–KB)
