Srinagar, Sep 14 (KB): In a pre-dawn operation, the security forces neutralized three terrorists in the Tappar area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, just days ahead of the crucial first phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
Commanding the 10 Sector, Hyderbeigh, Addressing a joint press conference at the headquarters, Sanjay Kannoth said, “We got specific intelligence about the presence of the suspects here. We conducted the operations on Friday evening.

The army officer praised the professionalism of the security personnel while stating the operation was carried out with precision, leaving no harm to civilian lives or property.
It assumes significance in the run up to the Assembly polls, commencing from September 18. “This encounter has frustrated Pakistan’s nefarious design to destabilize the region in the run-up to polls. We will ensure peace prevails and Chinar Corps and Kilo Force are working in coordination with each other to ensure daily life is not disrupted,” Kannoth said.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V K Birdhi, who also visited the encounter site, said, “No group will be allowed to undermine the peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir. Security forces acted on credible intelligence, and as the operation unfolded, the terrorists initiated heavy firing, which resulted in a prolonged encounter. Their attempt to disrupt peace has been thwarted and we will continue to act decisively against such threats,” Birdhi told reporters.— (KB)
