Shopian, Mar 16 (KB): The DPAP president and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Gulam Nabi Azad, on Thursday praised the central government for countering militancy in the valley and raised questions about the unemployment ratio.
The DPAP workers welcomed their president and raised slogans in favour of Azad and praised the central government for countering militancy in Jammu and Kashmir but raised questions about the unemployment ratio and development. However, he also advocated for conducting elections in Jammu and Kashmir and said that the central government must take advantage of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and conduct elections and development works right now.
The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and the president of DPAP, Ghulam Nabi Azad, during his first visit to Trenz Shopian, as per the Kashmir Bulletin (KB), praised the central government for ending the long-lasting militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. “I have visited this area after a long time, and since 1990 to the past few years, militancy has also ended in the valley but this village still has stress and tension. Now, we see only a few incidents in some parts of the valley. It’s already seen that the youth of the valley have fewer jobs, and so the government should take a forward step and engage the youth in jobs as militancy is declining in Kashmir now,” he said.
Azad also suggested that the central government should prioritize conducting elections in the valley, as the region needs a local government to look after. “The situation is peaceful enough to conduct elections in Jammu and Kashmir, and the center must take advantage of it and conduct elections and development works right now,” he added.
