Cleric Booked for ‘Malicious Speech’, Risking Sectarian Disharmony, in Shopian
Srinagar, Mar 03 (KB): A religious cleric has been booked under various sections of relevant law for allegedly making a malicious speech, risking sectarian disharmony, in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, official sources said.
They told news agency Kashmir Bulletin that Police Station Zainapora received a reliable information that a local cleric, a resident of Babapora Shopian, has with a ‘malicious intent’ delivered a speech, through electronic means, that insults, spreads hate, causes emotional harm to another sect thereby risking secterian disharmony.
“Taking cognisance of the matter, the Police have registered a case vide FIR number 13/2025, under sections 299 BNS and 353(II) against the cleric and set investigations into motion,” the sources added. (KB)
