Srinagar, Oct 24 (KB): Double entry of voters in last election. A list of above 1381 people casted vote from Khanyar constituency alone, alleged People’s Conference, also appeals the Govt to form a committee to keep a check on it, so it won’t happen again in future.
Senior leader, of people’s conference Basharat Bukhari while addressing a presser in Srinagar, as per Kashmir Bulletin–(KB), said that in 2014 election, our leader Khurshid Alam participated in election from Khankyar constituency, and found that almost 1381 person were those voters who casted their vote twice, even some of them are those who voted twice in same area.
“We tried to raise our voice at that time, and are also doing the same as of now. But at that time no one was there to listen to our voice. We even filed several complaints but nothing happened,” he said.
We have formal lists with us, and there are about 1381 people in the first list. Some of them are those who were added in list but don’t exist on ground.
“We have another document copy, this one reads that some of the voters have casted their votes twice. One of the person in the list has casted his vote from Reeshi Mohalla with labeled under 1019 number in the list, of Khanyar area, and the same person is also casting vote in lone Mohalla again, labeled under 691 number. The list we have with us is clearly showing voting piracy,” said Basharat Bukhari.
He further, added that the main point in the list is, when our concerned Booth Level Officers (BLO’s), are inspecting the voters list, and are adding to modifying the list, why don’t they rectified it, if they too are involved in piracy, there must be a probe against them too.”
Now, we are here, to inform the government that please take a serious note on such issue, as this was the major drawback at the election at that time, and as you all are aware that government has started a process do a legal check on election candidates list now a days.
“We also have a formal list with us, and also have send copies to different departments. We have also personally met Deputy commissioner of Srinagar, and will also submit a copy to Election Commission of India,” he said. (Kashmir Bulletin–KB)
