Hirdesh Kumar reviews COVID19 pandemic situation in Poonch

Poonch, May, 19: To review the efforts towards mitigating the COVID-19 pandemic in Poonch
district and to review the situation, the Commissioner Secretary to the Government,
Transport/Election Department, Hirdesh Kumar today chaired a meeting of the concerned officers
here at the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bungalow.
A discussion on various points including a hundred per cent vaccination of the targeted groups,
testing of patients for COVID19, availability of medical oxygen supply, online classes for students
besides other related points was discussed threadbare in the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet gave a detailed account of the measures being
taken for the efficient management and containment of the COVID 19 pandemic in the district
through a powerpoint presentation. He demanded the provision of 5000 to 6000 more
vaccination doses for a hundred per cent coverage of the beneficiaries under vaccination
drive as per the directions of the Lieutenant Governor.
Senior Superintendent of Police informed that as many as 162 FIRs have been registered against
the persons for the violation of the COVID related SOPs and a fine amounting to Rs 10 lacs has
been imposed besides, 4000 challans have also been made.
Speaking during the meeting, the Commissioner Secretary said that as the number of cases
are increasing rapidly with the start of the second wave of COVID19, the need of an hour is to
make extra efforts to mitigate the pandemic in the district.
The Commissioner Secretary directed the concerned officer to ensure that necessary
arrangements are made for testing and vaccination of the mobile population at the migratory
routes to avoid the risk of viral infection.
The Commissioner Secretary also directed for the active involvement of the PRIs in ensuring
the hundred per cent vaccination of the targeted groups of the district at the earliest besides,
the PRIs should also be involved in contact tracing for the timely detection of the positive covid
patients to check the further transmission of the viral infection.
The Commissioner Secretary also directed for increasing the number of COVID Care Centres in
the rural areas with all the logistics for the convenience of the Covid patients. The AEE
Mechanical has been asked to deploy sufficient staff for the oxygen concentrators so that
assured supply of medical oxygen is maintained in the district for the Covid patients whose life
is completely dependent on the medical oxygen.
The Commissioner Secretary also asked the concerned officer to complete the work on the
installation of the Oxygen Concentrator Plant at Poonch and Mandi within the shortest possible
time. He also directed for the provision of adequate medical kits to the patients in home isolation.
The Chief Medical Officer has been asked to ensure an adequate supply of medicines in the
Government and private hospitals and shops so that the people don’t face any inconveniences
amid the pandemic.
The Mission Director NHM and Director Health Services Jammu have been asked to ensure the
early processing of the RT PCR results for the timely identification of the Covid positive patients.
The concerned officer from the School Education Department has been directed to ensure that
the online classes for the students are organized regularly to ensure that their studies don’t suffer
due to the pandemic.
The Commissioner Secretary also asked for providing maximum relief to the general Public from
several Welfare schemes like MGNREGA, social assistance schemes and other welfare
schemes being implemented by different departments in the district.
