J&K rejects Delimitation draft report: ANC Chief Begum Khalida Shah
Srinagar, Feb 06 : J&K Awami National Conference president Begum Khalida Shah has said that J&K out rightly rejects the delimitation commission’s second draft proposal & there are no takers for it anywhere in Jammu & Kashmir. The ANC rejects this drama carried out in the name of Delimitation.
She said that the Delimitation Commission exercise was against the constitution and any change in the existing setup amounts to challenging the Indian constitution. The Delimitation exercise cannot be undertaken in the absence of the a legislature & in the absence of an elected government. The changes put forth by the Delimitation Panel are totally unconstitutional & unacceptable to Jammu & kashmir.
Begum Khalida Shah Further stated it is senseless to demarcate boundaries of old constituencies by creating newer ones with complete discrimination under the new seat sharing proposal of the delimitation panel. This exercise is illogical, unjustified and rejected by people & across the party lines. The ANC along with the PAGD will chalk out the strategy for defeating the agenda of the BJP & it’s mentor the RSS. The people of J&K irrespective of region or religion will not allow the Delimitation exercise to succeed, she said.
The ANC Sr VP Mr Muzzafar Shah while commenting on this report has said that the commission has not upheld its mandate of a constitutional body but has clearly demonstrated itself as a frontal organisation of the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party & the RSS with a sole agenda of ensuring backdoor entry of BJP and its B teams to the Legislative Assembly of Jammu & kashmir, further adding that all regions of Jammu Kashmir believe that delimitation is being carried out to disempower people of Jammu and Kashmir by division of secular and majority votes. It is the responsibility of each & every citizen of J&K to thwart this sinister design of attempting a demography change of Jammu & Kashmir. This dream will never take off, Mr Shah said.
The ANC Sr VP further said that the delimitation for Jammu and Kashmir is being undertaken in total disregard to the set principals of such process undertaken throughout the country where Delimitation is to be taken up in 2026. The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act 2019 is under challenge before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India which puts a big question mark on the appointment of the Delimitation Commission that lacks the authority & a constitutional status.
The redrawing of constitutional boundaries of both the Assembly & the Parliamentary segments has been done without consideration of the ground realities solely with the aim of the division of our society purely on communal grounds that will find no takers. This exercise will not be allowed to take off, the ANC Sr VP said. (KB)
