Kathua Police books Three Hardcore OGW’s under Public Safety Act
Srinagar Jan 31 (KB): In a major crackdown on criminal activities, J&K Police Kathua, under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Sh. Shobhit Saksena (IPS), has apprehended three hardcore criminals/Over Ground Workers (OGWs) involved in multiple offenses registered at Police Station Billawar. The accused have been booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) 1978.
On January 31, 2025, Police teams from PS Billawar and PP Ramkot led by SHO PS Billawar and IC PP Ramkot, and supervised by SDPO Billawar arrested the following persons:
1. Mohd Rafiq S/o Kalu Khan, R/o Ghar Malti
2. Ravinder Kumar alias Shanu S/o Sudesh Kumar, R/o Dadwara
3. Amrik Chand alias Amrku S/o Kalu Ram, R/o Dharamkot, Tehsil Billawar, District Kathua
In total, multiple FIRs against various illegal activities for the last many years at PS Billawar were reportedly issued against the selected individuals; also, ‘dossiers’ were made which were placed in front of District Magistrate Kathua followed by detention warrants released under Public Safety Act 1978.
The accused have been lodged in District Jails Jammu, Rajouri, and Udhampur after the execution of the warrants, which ensures a strict crackdown on crime in the region.
The locals of Kathua district have widely appreciated the initiative, lauding the efforts of J&K Police in maintaining law and order. (KB)
