Srinagar, Sep 14 (KB): After a night-long halt, the security forces have resumed the operation in the forest area of Gadool in Kokernag village of Anantnag district, and the hidden militants have been zeroed in on, the police said on Thursday morning.
Officials, as per the Kashmir Bulletin (KB), said after a night-long halt of the operation, forces on Thursday said, “persist with unwavering resolve as they encircle 2 LET militants, including Uzair Khan.”
Likewise, sources have also told KB that Indian army soldiers also evacuated school students from adjoining areas safely during the encounter between militants and security forces in Gadool Kokernag.
Sharing details on the social media platform ‘X,’ Kashmir Zone police wrote: “In solemn tribute to the unwavering valor of Col Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak, and DSP Humayun Bhat, who laid down their lives leading from the front during this ongoing operation. Our forces persist with unwavering resolve as they encircle 2 LET terrorists, including Uzair Khan.”
Lastly, yesterday, Colonel Manpreet Singh, commanding officer 19 RR, Major Ashish Dhonchak, and DySP Humayun Bhat were killed during the initial exchange of fire. (KB)
