Says BJP didn’t fulfil any promise made at the time of Govt formation
Jammu, Feb 01 (KNO): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti Monday said that her former ally in state Bharatiya Janta Party did nothing to fulfil the promises made at the time of government formation stating that her father late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed played with the fire and joined hands with BJP only for the sake of people of J&K.
As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) she was addressing day—long party convention at Rajouri where a large number of party workers were present in the convention.
Referring to coalition with BJP, Mehbooba said that PDP always underlined many conditions with BJP at the time of government formation that included AFSPA revocation, return of power projects and resumption of talks with Pakistan but BJP did nothing to fulfil these promises even after agreeing to the same.
“We always called for resumption of friendly policy of Atal Bihari Vajpayee but nothing was done, ” she further said.
She said that scrapping of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir was unconstitutional and a step which affected everyone here in “Jammu and Kashmir and removed a guardian from our head.”
Mehbooba said that there is enough land for outsiders to settle in India but there is no land for Muslims which is unfortunate and against social and diversity feature of India.
She also said that BJP is violating constitution at its best and is following many unconstitutional means like scrapping of Article
Mehbooba said that Peoples Democratic Party always stood for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Jammu and Kashmir and its misuse in a fresh case is of a fake and staged encounter in Shopian.
“Three innocent youth of Rajouri went Shopian for labour work but were murdered there.” she said adding that it is a fresh case of AFSPA misuse.
“We, at the time of government formation, called for revocation of AFSPA after peaceful atmosphere and BJP did nothing in it,” said Mehbooba.
She further said that present scenario in Kashmir is of this nature that mother of a boy killed in HMT encounter pleaded to see her face for the last time but she was not allowed.
