Srinagar 26 Oct: The Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday held a function at the party office to celebrate Accession Day.
Terming Kashmir as an integral part of India, BJP General Secretary J&K Sunil Sharma said: “On October 26, 1947, the then ruler of the state, Maharaja Hari Singh, signed the Instrument of Accession to make Jammu and Kashmir a part of India. The Jammu and Kashmir issue was settled permanently in 1947, after its ruler signed the Instrument of Accession.”
He said that whole of J&K celebrated the occasion on 26th October and the programme will witness distinguished speakers narrating the untold history which was hidden and skewed by the nefarious elements in the State as well as at the Centre Pt. Nehru with his revengeful attitude took the matter of accession of J&K into his hands and the region of Jammu & Kashmir had to suffer for decades together,” he added.
He said that under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the LG announced the holiday on the day of Vilay Diwas which was a great victory for all the nationalist forces.
On the occasion party’s General Secretary BJP J&K Sunil Sharma congratulated the people of UT on the occasion of Accession day, celebrated on October 26, stating that the farsightedness of the then Majharaja Hari Singh is proving right today as people of J&K are reaping the dividends of accession and enjoying the fruit of democracy by being part of Indian Union.
Maharaja Hari Singh preferred Indian Union over Pakistan knowing the fact that the future of J&K people would remain secure with India not Pakistan.
Thakur said that all those who even today feel that Maharaja’s decision was wrong, must be feeling ashamed after seeing the situation in the neighboring country and the fate of people there.
