Srinagar, September 27:(GNS) Encounter broke out between militants and government forces in Awhatto area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.
Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Awhatto.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.
Pertinently one Pakistani JeM militant Abu- Hurara was killed yesterday at Batpora area of Kulgam.
Meanwhile, ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar through his official Twitter handle, The Kashmir Police Zone said, “Two local militants of proscribed militants outfit JeM trapped in the ongoing encounter. Both the trapped militants are involved in several terror crime cases.
Meanwhile intermittent exchange of fire was going on when this report was being filed.(GNS)
