Street Vendor (Monji Wool) Booked for Spreading Infection in Hazratbal: Police
Srinagar: Srinagar Police have registered an FIR against a street food vendor in the Hazratbal area for an unlawful and negligent act of spreading infection.
According to Statement the case, FIR No. 10/2025, has been lodged at Police Station Nigeen under Section 271 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The action comes after a shocking incident on Friday when a customer found two dead mice inside an open oil tin used by the vendor to fry fritters and other local sweets, commonly known as Monji Wool.
The discovery triggered chaos in the area, particularly as a large number of devotees had gathered at the Hazratbal shrine for congregational prayers. They expressed outrage over the unhygienic practices.
