Srinagar, January 1st(KB): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against 15 accused, including a former assistant sub-inspector of J&K Police, a head constable of CRPF, a sepoy of the Indian Army, teachers and private individuals, in an ongoing investigation into irregularities in the written examination for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil) conducted by the J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB).
The CBI had registered a case on January 9th, 2023 at the request of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir regarding alleged malpractices in the written exam held by JKSSB.
Investigations revealed that a private individual had conspired with the other accused. An employee of a printing press involved in exam preparations allegedly stole a question paper and provided it to the private person. The accused then solicited candidates and provided them copies of the leaked question paper in exchange for money.
Candidates were allegedly transported in tempo travellers and taxis to Panchkula and provided the leaked question paper ahead of the exam.
The CBI investigation spread across several states and involved scrutinizing technical data, bank accounts, toll records and statements of over 100 witnesses.
After a thorough investigation, the chargesheet has been filed against the 15 accused. The accused are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The public is reminded that the findings are based on the investigation conducted by the CBI and evidence collected by them.–(Kashmir Bulletin)
