Srinagar, Aug 17 (KB): The annual Urs Mubarak at the revered shrine of Makdoom Sahab, Sultan-ul-Arifeen (RA), is set to begin today in Srinagar.
The sacred event will be observed over 13 days, starting today, with Urs Mubarak to be observed on August 30.
According to the details available with the Kashmir Bulletin (KB), the first significant day of the Urs will be on August 17 (today), corresponding with 11th Safar, which falls on a Saturday, while comprising 13 days before the Urs Mubarak.
Notably, devotees from across the region are expected to gather at the shrine to participate in prayers and special religious rituals. The festivities will continue until August 29, which corresponds with the 23rd Safar, observed on a Thursday as “Shab.”
Significantly, the following day, August 30, marks the 24th Safar and is considered the most significant day of the Urs Mubarak of Sultan-ul-Arifeen, Sheikh Hamza Makdoomi (RA). This day, which falls on a Friday, will see an influx of worshippers attending Jummah prayers, followed by special recitations and gatherings at the shrine.
In the meanwhile, the Urs Mubarak at Makdoom Sahab is a deeply rooted tradition, drawing devotees from all walks of life who come to seek blessings and spiritual solace.
